The newly-formed Killamarsh Heritage Society is launching a project to restore the old
Killamarsh GCR station.  The Society's website will be formally launched at a meeting on 17th
January, when Howard Turner will talk about his memories of commuting on the GCR through
Killamarsh.  The meeting starts at 7.30 pm at Killamarsh Village Centre, and people are invited
to bring information, photographs or memories, etc.  The Society has a Facebook page:

Translated from German: In the home of aged people "Geriatriezentrum am Wienerwald", in the
Viennese district of Lainz, a tiny railway ran up to 27th November 2011.  With a gauge of 500
mm and a length of 4 km approx.  Originally transporting all, what's needed in a hospital, from
coal to bed linen, only food for inhabitants was moved in insulated containers in recent years.
The home for aged people will move elsewhere in a few years - albeit without the railway.  The
closure of it was obviously the first step for that.
